Simple treatment of acute lumbar sprain

BY Iris Wheatley 2020-06-21

"Low back pain is a disease, and it can be terribly painful." Acute low back sprain is a common and frequently-occurring disease in the clinic, and it is often a disease that is often seen in emergency departments, which is very painful.

Acute lumbar sprain is commonly known as "flash waist" and "chasing gas". The mechanism of pain in lumbar sprain is that muscle fibers are prone to stiffness and spasm after cold, involvement, or maintaining a bent posture for a long time. In the posture, it is easy to cause muscle fibers to break, and the capillaries in the fibers are broken at the same time, exuding a lot of blood, forming swelling in the local area and pressing the related nerves to cause local pain or radioactive pain.

If left untreated, the deep exuded blood will form fibrosis, and eventually scars and adhesions will be formed, resulting in impaired blood circulation and degenerative lesions in the local muscle tissue, which will change from acute lumbar sprain to incurable Chronic low back pain. From the pathological analysis of traditional Chinese medicine, it is caused by the stiff waist, stagnation of blood and blood stasis, and the lack of meridians.

The main manifestations of acute lumbar sprains are:

   (1) Pain: Usually lower back pain occurs immediately after injury. It was persistent, knife-cut or tear-like, and became worse after the activity, and was relieved but not eliminated after the rest. Coughing, speaking loudly, and abdomen pressure can make the pain worse. There are many clear pain areas. The range of local tenderness began to be larger, and gradually became limited in the future.

  (2) Stiff waist, limited mobility: damaged muscles due to pain and various other pathological factors cause reflex spasm, causing stiff waist, compensatory scoliosis (generally multi-directional) The affected side is tilted). All activities of the spine such as flexion, extension, lateral bending, and rotation are limited due to the increased pain. Muscles in a state of spasm can aggravate the pain and spasm the muscles again, forming a vicious circle.

   (3) Radiation and involved neuralgia: Nearly half of the patients with acute lumbar sprain have radioactive or involved neuralgia. Generally, the pain is mostly in the buttocks, the back of the thigh, and the anterior inside of the thigh. Straight leg elevation test can sometimes be positive, but the foot dorsal extension test is negative, which can be distinguished from lumbar disc herniation.

  Treatment:

  1. It is possible to puncture the Weizhong acupuncture point with a three-sided acupuncture, reduce the pressure caused by the waist injury, and let the damaged part The penetrating fluid returns to eliminate swelling and achieve the purpose of healing. (Note: The bloodletting volume in the committee is too small to achieve the goal, the bloodletting volume should be 50ml~150ml). Of course, you can also rub the Weizhong point yourself, but the effect is slightly worse.

  2. Acupuncture at Houxi and bones can also be effective once. You can also massage this point.

   3. Acute lumbar sprain can also acupuncture "Human Zhong", sometimes healed once.

   4. Professional massage treatment.

Those who cannot acupuncture at the above acupuncture points can massage themselves, which is a very simple and easy way. Of course, there are also many methods such as: those with obvious tenderness points can be closed for pain points, and supplemented with physical therapy; local application of blood circulation, scattered blood stasis, pain relief plaster (hot compress and blood circulation stagnation plaster is recommended to use after 24 hours) , There are other drugs and other treatments, all need to be used under the guidance of a doctor.
