It is harmful to eat uncooked cassava. Cassava contains linseedrin, which is hydrolyzed by gastric acid in the stomach to produce hydrocyanic acid. Hydrocyanic acid is a toxic component. If you eat uncooked cassava, you may get food poisoning. Ordinary adults consume 150 to 300 grams of raw cassava can cause poisoning, and even severe cases will die. To prevent cassava poisoning, cassava must be peeled before consumption, and the cassava meat should be soaked in water to dissolve the linsein. Generally, after soaking for about 6 days, about 70% of linseedrin can be taken out, and then heated and cooked to eat.
