The reason for not being able to eat pineapple due to protease allergy is: Bromelain is a protein hydrolase. A small amount of protease in pineapple is broken down by gastric juice after being eaten in the stomach. A few people have allergic reactions to this enzyme. Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, urticaria, headache, dizziness and other symptoms appear about 15 to 60 minutes after eating. Severe breathing difficulties and shock may also occur.
