Soy consumption has no effect on breast cancer: the amount of soy consumed by a person varies according to his or her residence. In women in North America and Europe, the average consumption of isoflavones in the diet is 3 mg or less per day. This level is much lower than the soybean consumption of women living in China or Japan. For example, the average consumption of isoflavones in the Chinese diet ranges from 25mg to 50mg per day. However, despite significant differences in intake levels, the evidence so far supports that it is beneficial for women living in China or the United States and Canada to consume more soybeans.
