Exclusive breastfeeding can meet most of the nutritional needs of healthy full-term babies within 6 months. Therefore, exclusive breastfeeding is still recommended for at least 4 months (17 weeks); the ideal goal is: exclusive breastfeeding or breastfeeding for about 6 months (26 weeks). After the addition of complementary foods begins, the duration of exclusive breastfeeding should be extended as much as possible, which helps to reduce gastrointestinal and respiratory tract infections and hospitalization rates caused by infections.
