I don’t like meat very much. I usually eat vegetarian food. My colleagues told me that vegetarian diet will reduce calcium loss. Will vegetarian diet reduce calcium loss?

Vegetarian food does not reduce calcium loss. Eating vegetarian does not mean that the loss of urine calcium must be lower than that of meat eaters. If vegetarians eat refined grains, the calcium content is very low, and insufficient intake of potassium and magnesium will also reduce the utilization of calcium in food. If vegetarians do not pay attention to nutritional balance, insufficient supply of high-quality protein, less outdoor activities and do not pay attention to vitamin D supplementation, it will reduce the bioavailability of calcium. Some human studies have found that the urinary calcium loss of vegan dieters is not lower than that of meat-eating omnivores.
