The first is vegetables and fruits. Studies have shown that eating cherries can reduce the risk of gout attacks. The second is daily coffee and tea. Studies have shown that drinking coffee (>237 ml/d) can reduce the risk of gout. It is speculated that caffeine may eventually reduce the production of uric acid by competitively inhibiting xanthine oxidase. All in all, it is recommended that gout patients should avoid eating animal offal, sugary drinks and wine, limit the intake of meat, seafood and desserts, encourage the consumption of vegetables, cherries and low-fat or skim milk, and drink coffee in moderation.
