Can PET/CT screen tumors

Male  32 years old 2018-06-10
My chest hurts. I suspect that I have cancer. After seeing a doctor today, he suggested that I do PET/CT. Can this method be used to screen for cancer?

PET/CT can be used to screen for cancer. It is suitable for the differential diagnosis of most benign and malignant tumors in the human body, the staging and classification of tumors, and the evaluation of systemic conditions; before and after evaluation of various treatment methods (including: residual tumor status or recurrence after surgery Identification of scar tissue, changes of tumor lesions before and after radiotherapy and chemotherapy, identification of radiation pneumonitis and tumor recurrence, etc.) and systemic monitoring of tumor metastases.
