I was diagnosed with iodine deficiency when I was two months pregnant, but I haven’t been able to supplement it. Is iodine supplementation important?

Iodine supplementation is very important during pregnancy, and iodine is essential to maintain the thyroid function of mother and child and the development of fetal nervous system. In areas where iodized salt is not consumed and iodine is deficient, it should be clear whether pregnant women need to supplement iodine in the first trimester. Women who have adequate intake of iodine before pregnancy (about 150μg per day) can self-regulate thyroid function during pregnancy to meet the increased demand for thyroid hormones during pregnancy.
