Studies have shown that excessive intake of trans fatty acids can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, and hypercholesterolemia. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that the trans fatty acid energy supply ratio should be lower than 1% which is roughly 2 grams per day. Therefore, it is recommended that you consume as few trans fatty acids as possible.
