Patients with high uric acid should not drink sweet drinks, including fruit juice drinks. Sweet drinks either contain fructose syrup or sucrose. Fructose mainly increases uric acid production and also reduces uric acid excretion. Patients with high uric acid should not eat high purine foods such as seafood and internal organs. Patients with pain do not eat desserts. The sucrose in the desserts will be converted into fructose (and glucose) when digested and absorbed. Fructose is harmful to patients with high uric acid.
