Why does trans fatty acids cause coronary heart disease?

Male  31 years old 2018-05-01
I went to the hospital for a medical checkup last week. The doctor suggested that for the purpose of checking cholesterol, I would not allow me to eat foods with a high content of trans fatty acids to avoid coronary heart disease. Why do trans fatty acids cause coronary heart disease?

Trans fatty acids can raise cholesterol, can increase "bad" cholesterol, lower "good" cholesterol, and increase the risk of coronary heart disease. They are mostly used in processed foods, such as bread, biscuits, instant noodles, cakes, snacks, potato chips, shortbread, etc. The trans-fatty acid content of these processed foods is indicated on the label nutrition composition table. Some products mark the content of trans fatty acid as zero, which does not necessarily mean that it is completely free, but can be marked as "0" as long as the content is less than 3%.
