Will potato become fat

Male  25 years old 2018-03-26
Recently, I saw that my friend is losing weight. He looks like he eats potatoes as a staple food, but the starch content of potatoes seems to be very high, so would it be fat to eat as a staple food?

Although they have a higher starch content than ordinary vegetables, they are genuine low-fat high-fiber foods, and their fat content is less than 0.5% lower than flour. In terms of starch content, they are no higher than rice buns. For example, the starch content of potatoes is only about 20%, which is lower than that of white rice (more than 25%), while the starch content in steamed buns is as high as 40%, and the bread is higher. According to the same amount of starch, 1 pound of dry rice is equivalent to 4 pounds of potatoes; 1 pound of cooked rice is equivalent to 1.5 pounds of cooked potatoes. Since dare to eat rice buns, why not dare to eat potatoes as staple food?
