In the first trimester, due to changes in the endometrium and the effects of the hormones produced by the placenta, gastrointestinal smooth muscle tension decreases and activity decreases, resulting in food staying in the stomach for too long. Often nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite occur after getting up in the morning or after a meal. This phenomenon is called early pregnancy reaction.
