Is purple potato a type of sweet potato?

Male  38 years old 2018-04-12
I used to think that purple and sweet potatoes are the same variety, but then my friends told me that these are two kinds of food. Is there any difference between purple and sweet potatoes?

Purple sweet potato is a sweet potato variety obtained by crossbreeding and is naturally occurring. Of course, there are many newly developed varieties, such as the commercially available Jingshu No. 6 purple potato, which is a new black potato variety bred from the crossbreeding of Brazilian sweet potatoes and Chinese sweet potatoes. Purple potatoes were initially popular in Europe, America and Japan. my country probably introduced them from Japan in the 1990s. At present, many of the purple potatoes cultivated in China are selected from the hybridization of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences and are not genetically modified foods.
